Attorney Opening

Title: Patent Attorney (Electrical Engineer/Computer Science)

Volpe and Koenig, P.C. is seeking an electrical engineer and/or computer science attorney with at least three years of intellectual property experience to join the Electrical Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and prosecution of complex patent applications
  • Preparation of claim charts to products and standards, demonstrating infringement and validity
  • Conduct IP related due diligence
  • Manage large docket of domestic and foreign prosecution
  • Develop portfolio strategies and effectively communicate with the client

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar (knowledge of wireless telecommunications, digital rights management, audio/video coding, semiconductor design and fabrication, and software is desired)
  • JD and admission to practice before the US Patent Office
  • 3-5 years of Intellectual Property Law experience
  • Excellent patent analysis ability
  • Ability to interface independently with clients
  • Strong technical and legal background

Staff Opening

Title: Staff Accountant

Volpe and Koenig, P.C. is seeking a staff accountant to join the firm’s accounting department. The staff accountant will research and analyze accounts to provide management with financial information, as well as providing multi-level reporting and assisting in the preparation of financial statements.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assists in the preparation of consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
  • Maintains and balances an automated consolidation system by inputting data; scheduling required jobs; verifying data.
  • Maintain, update and reconcile Ledgers: Receipts, Cash, Foreign and Domestic Deposit Accounts and Trusts.
  • Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.
  • Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.
  • Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts.
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Provides accounting support for Corporate Client reporting by reviewing financial information; converting data to 3P billing system requirements and obtaining supplementary information for reporting.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Accounting degree (4 year)
  • 0-1 years of experience
    • Law firm or professional services experience a plus
  • SFAS Rules
