Volpe and Koenig, P.C. Co-Founder and Shareholder Anthony Volpe Honored as 2015 Leader of Innovation

ASVPhilaUPHILADELPHIA, PA (May 9, 2015) — Volpe and Koenig, P.C., an intellectual property law firm with offices in Philadelphia, PA, and Princeton, NJ, announced that Co-founder and Shareholder Anthony S. Volpe was honored by the Verizon Philadelphia University Celebration of Innovation as a 2015 Leader of Innovation Medal Recipient at their Benefit Gala, Innovation Exhibit & Awards Ceremony on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Hyatt at the Bellevue Hotel in Philadelphia. The Verizon Philadelphia University Celebration of Innovation was started as a platform for advancing the importance of higher education and innovation and the impact they have on the global economy.

Volpe is one of only four 2015 Leaders of Innovation selected and is a 1972 graduate of Philadelphia University (then known as Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science); he is joined by honorees Janice R. Maiden, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Federal-Mogul Powertrain, Chris Rondeau, Chief Executive Officer of
Planet Fitness, and the Maguire Foundation. The evening pays tribute to students, faculty, alumni and friends who contribute their talent, creativity and determination to meeting current and emerging social needs through innovation, and proceeds provide scholarship support for students.
Said Volpe about receiving this honor, “It’s a source of great pride that the institution which launched my career over 40 years ago — and that continues to launch careers today with creative and innovative academic programs — has seen fit to bestow the prestigious Philadelphia University Innovation Award upon me. I try to pass on the inquiring nature instilled by at my alma mater because real inquiry truly begets innovation.”

Volpe has corporate and private practice experience in all aspects of intellectual property rights and counsels clients in an array of technologies. His practice is concentrated on licensing and inter parte matters, including litigation in initial and appellate stages, and working with administrative agencies such as the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the Canadian Patent Office and the International Trade Commission. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Federal, Third and Fourth Circuits, and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and Eastern District of Michigan. Volpe earned his J.D. from the University of Toledo College of Law, and his B.S. in textile engineering from the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science (now Philadelphia University). Volpe speaks frequently on IP topics and has authored multiple intellectual property articles for trade organizations and legal publications.
