Donald Cox is an attorney specializing in intellectual property law. He has extensive legal experience in obtaining and protecting patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret rights in the U.S. and foreign countries. He has counseled clients relating to numerous areas of technical focus. Don has conducted reviews of company IP portfolios to assess and protect copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets and patents in technologies relating to telecommunications, day trading, advanced bingo hall gaming machines and off-track betting systems. He has experience in strategic IP planning and a wide variety of intellectual property counseling. Don has reviewed IP portfolios to assess their potential for monetization and to protect technologies relating to telecommunications, day trading, and gaming machines. He has experience in strategic IP planning from inception through implementation.
Don is an experienced intellectual property law practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in IP Law. He started his legal career in Southern California working with biomedical, entertainment, computer and computer peripherals companies. He moved his practice to New Jersey to counsel universities, telecommunications and semi-conductor companies. Don has had his own practice for the last eight years working with entrepreneurs and small businesses to develop IP portfolios.
Don was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force where he served as Integration Engineering Chief for the Worldwide Military Command and Control Information System (WIS) Program. He actively participated in the development and installation of hardware and software systems under the direction of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to upgrade the Defense Department’s Command and Control computer network to the Internet protocols.

Don was co-editor for the 2012 Telecommunications Law issue of NJ Lawyer Magazine. He wrote “Copyright Laws 10 Years Later–Downloading Music” for the 2009 Intellectual Property issue of NJ Lawyer Magazine. Don has been a presenter at seminars, such as Basic IP For Business Lawyers for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (NJICLE), Internet Strategies for the Paralegal in New Jersey: Institute for Paralegal Education, and Domain Names, Trademarks & Disputes: NSI’s New Policy: Beverly Hills Bar.
Don has participated in the AIPLA, NJIPLA , LES and IEEE providing comments on briefs in support of important legal matters.

“I have served on the Education Committee of the Princeton Regional Chamber, worked with the Princeton Parks Alliance as an active member of the Harrison Street Park Friends in the park’s on-going rehabilitation and member of the Nassau Club. I am a Princeton Borough resident, supportive of my wife’s active involvement in the NJ Italian/ American community and devoted soccer dad. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, cycling, soccer, beach volleyball, swimming, ice skating and skiing. We travel often to Italy to stay close with my wife’s family there.”
