Intellectual Property Firm Volpe Koenig Continues to Grow Practice

Volpe Koenig, Philadelphia’s largest law firm dedicated solely to intellectual property, is pleased to announce the continued expansion of the firm’s professional team with the addition of three patent attorneys and one patent agent

Patent attorneys James Gauger, Anthony Pettes and Dean Tricarico, along with Patent Agent Radhika Joshi, recently joined Volpe Koenig’s deep bench of high caliber intellectual property professionals serving a wide range of clients domestically and abroad.

James E. Gauger
With more than 30 years of IP experience James (Jim) Gauger joins Volpe Koenig’s Electrical Technology and Components Group as Of Counsel. Jim has extensive experience in all aspects of intellectual property law in a wide range of technologies. His practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, patent litigation, IP transactions, strategic counseling, due diligence investigations, post-grant proceedings, and licensing. He also has represented clients in all stages of complex intellectual property and patent litigation at the trial court and appellate court levels.

Prior to joining the Volpe Koenig, Jim served as Of Counsel at two Chicago area firms as well as in-house senior IP counsel for several Motorola, Inc. divisions.

Jim earned his J.D. from Marquette University Law School and holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University.

Anthony M. Pettes
Anthony Pettes joins the firm as an Associate in Volpe Koenig’s Mechanical Technologies Group. His broad intellectual property experience includes patent prosecution before U.S. and international patent offices; patent, copyright and contract litigation before U.S. district courts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), the International Trade Commission (ITC) and foreign courts; appeals to the Federal Circuit; and strategic counseling, due diligence and opinions.

Over the past 15 years, Tony has been an IP practitioner with several large and mid-size firms on the east coast.

Anthony earned his J.D. from Duke University. Anthony holds a M.S. in Electrical Engineering and a M.S in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. He also holds a B.S.E from Duke University in Mechanical Engineering.

Dean J. Tricarico
Dean Tricarico offers more than 20 years of patent experience primarily in the wireless technology space. He joins the firm’s Electrical Technology and Components Group as an Associate. Dean has drafted over 200 patent applications and prosecuted more than 700 patent applications directed to 5G NR, LTE, LTE-A, 3G, 4G, and 5G. 

Prior to Dean's work as a patent attorney and patent agent, he worked as a system engineer and engineering manager with large publicly traded technology companies. Dean also served in the U.S. Air Force.

Dean earned his J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. He holds at B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida.

Radhika S. Joshi
Radhika Joshi joins the firm’s Electrical Technology and Components Group as a Patent Agent working in the wireless technology space. Prior to joining Volpe Koenig, Radhika served as a registered Patent Agent at several India law firms.

Radhika recently obtained an LL.M. from Texas A&M University School of Law. She holds a LL.B. from Government Law College, Mumbai University, LL.B; a P.G. Diploma in Patents Law from NALSA University and a B.E. in Electronics & Telecommunication from K.J. College of Engineering, Mumbai University.
