Volpe Koenig Shareholder Gerald B. (Jay) Halt will receive a 2024 Professional Achievement Award from Villanova University’s College of Engineering Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering during the 47th Annual Villanova University Engineering Alumni Dinner on Thursday, November 7th, 2024. Jay, an intellectual property law attorney, earned his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Villanova in 1987 and now sits on Villanova’s Engineering Entrepreneurship Advisory Board.

“I am honored to be recognized alongside my distinguished alumni colleagues for this year’s award,” says Jay. “Villanova played a key role in my career, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to support the continued success of the University.”

The Professional Achievement Award is presented to Villanova alumni who have made significant contributions to their profession and have demonstrated commitment to the field of engineering. During Jay’s early career, he worked as an electrical engineer for PECO while simultaneously earning his J.D.  As an attorney he has worked for more than 25 years with technology clients from startup entrepreneurs to Fortune 500 companies to help them secure, manage and protect their intellectual property assets.  An inventor and patent holder himself, Jay is a frequent speaker and blogger regarding intellectual property law, and in particular artificial intelligence, medical devices and block chain applications. He is the co-author of four intellectual property books.

The Annual Villanova University Engineering Alumni Dinner is a hallmark event that brings together alumni, faculty, and friends of the college to celebrate achievements and foster connections within the engineering community. This year’s dinner will highlight the achievements of twelve alumni who have made remarkable contributions to both their professions and to Villanova’s College of Engineering. The evening will not only celebrate individual achievements but also highlight the lasting legacy of excellence within the engineering profession.
