CLE Webinar-June 9, 2022- Taking Control of The Pace of Prosecution
Part of Volpe Koenig's CLE Webinar Series, this program was presented on June 9, 2022.
In recent years, the United States Patent and Trademark Office has taken strides to reduce the duration of time between the filing of a patent application and either abandonment or issuance, also known as “patent pendency."
For the most part, the USPTO’s efforts to speed up patent pendency have been successful, and further reductions to these pendency figures may be on the horizon. But, faster is not always better, especially when it comes to strategic patent prosecution.
This webinar offers an overview of why and how to control the pace of prosecution to align with a patent owner’s strategic objectives. Through a review of actual patent prosecution examples and recent USPTO initiatives, attendees will gain a better understanding of:
• When and how to slow down prosecution;
• When and how to speed up prosecution; and
• Potential pitfalls and practice takeaways.
