John focuses his practice on the worldwide prosecution of patent applications, patent licensing support, patentability analysis support, validity analysis support, infringement analysis support, producing technical claim charts and strategic prosecution.
John works on patent licensing support and strategic patent prosecution for patent licensing companies and standards development companies for wired, wireless, and software technologies.
The licensing support and strategic patent prosecution includes drafting new claims as a result of mining a patent specification or patent portfolio for valuable inventions.
Previous Work and Industry Experience
John has more than 20 years of experience in wired and wireless communications. Prior to joining the firm, John began as a technician deploying the latest technology in wired communications. While attending night school, he was promoted to engineer to facilitate this process. As a outside plant engineer, John regularly met with clients to assess their telecommunication requirements and concerns, formulated and design an action plan, and complete their project on time while meeting their expectations. Upon transitioning to wireless communications, John was lead performance engineer in many projects from enhanced paging initiatives, IP backhaul and IP soft-handoff transition, push-to-talk, TrFo/RTO, EVDO QoS and the addition of a new MSC, Mobile Switching Center.
