Overview

Stuart has been providing client services in IP/technology transactions, litigation and licensing support for more than 20 years. 

His practice focuses primarily on the protection of client innovations and technology analysis relating to electrical, software and mechanical technologies with particular specialization in WMAN/WLAN/WPAN communication technologies and related standards. 

Stuart has significant experience in intellectual property matters relating to IEEE and ETSI standards organizations including preparing/ prosecuting/ modifying over 1,200 U.S. and foreign patents to issuance, declared or confirmed, essential to various standards including IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi), LTE/LTE Advanced, IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX). 

Previous Work and Industry Experience

Prior to joining Volpe Koenig, Stuart provided IP counsel, technical support and training at several multi-national law firms and Fortune 500 companies including Sughrue Mion, Squire Sanders and Intel Corporation.

His technical background includes design and test of RF monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) as a Satellite Communications Engineer for Lockheed-Martin and a Biomedical Equipment Technician in the United States Army.

Life Beyond Law

Whenever opportunity permits, Stuart can be found exploring the space and natural beauty of the U.S. Southwest. He enjoys building and operating radio-controlled (RC) aircraft, mountain hiking and camping as well as racing all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), particularly in the sand dunes.
