Overview
Sung’s practice focuses on domestic and international patent prosecution, primarily in the area of wireless communications, software, semiconductor technologies, and electrical components.
Sung has drafted and prosecuted domestic and foreign patent applications for wide variety of technologies including telecommunication protocols, computer software, semiconductor devices, integrated circuits, and medical/electrical devices.
During his time with Volpe Koenig, and through his previous work at major law firms in the U.S. and South Korea, Sung has worked with a wide variety of clients including start-up companies as well as long-established corporations.
Previous Work and Industry Experience
Before entering the legal field, Sung was a research engineer at LG Electronics where he developed and implemented various mobile telecommunication systems and standards, e.g., WCDMA, CDMA, and GSM. He was responsible for all aspects of call processing in mobile communication handsets. His work includes developing Inter-RAT handover systems for multiple wireless carriers based on WCDMA, CDMA, and GSM.
