Joseph P. Boos
Overview
Joseph’s practice focuses on evaluating and securing domestic and international patents for clients in the wireless communications and computing technologies industries.
He regularly analyzes patents related to industry standards and counsels clients on strategies for patent portfolio acquisition and protection from both a technical and legal perspective. He identifies and develops evidence of use as well as infringement positions. Joseph ensures that the strategy for each client is as expeditious and cost effect as possible to achieve client objectives.
Joseph has global experience in the patent rules for countries around the world, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Georgia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Israel, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, Singapore, Taiwan and Venezuela. Joseph also has experience counseling clients regarding patent prosecution strategies in the European Patent Convention and the Patent Cooperation Treaty.
After developing a patent prosecution strategy, Joseph implements any developments, including analyzing and responding to office actions from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, conducting telephone and in-person interviews with patent examiners, and re-evaluating the patent prosecution strategy based on developments throughout the process.
Additionally, Joseph counsels clients on patent portfolio acquisitions by critically reviewing proposed acquisitions and outlining strengths and weaknesses
Life Beyond Law
Joseph is a member of the National Ski Patrol. He is also an Outdoor Emergency Care technician. Joseph is a volunteer ski patroller for Montage Mountain where he uses his skiing skills, including the use of rescue toboggans, and outdoor emergency care skills to assist skiers in need of help.
